This evening around 8:00 pm I found a Common
Loon on Ocean Pond in SW Baker County. The
bird was near the docks on the east side of the
lake. It was getting dark with thunderheads
blocking the setting sun and there was heat
haze over the water but the bird appeared
noticeably dark all over including the throat and
was thus apparently in alternate plumage.
