Greetings Birders:

The White-tailed Kite nest here at Kissimmee Prairie Preserve has at least two
nestlings, confirmed by some birders from Georgia that were here over the
weekend.

We have decided to offer transport to the viewing location via the Preserve’s
prairie buggy. The fee will be $10 (+tax) in addition to the day-use fee for the
Preserve ($4 per car). The trips will leave at 8:30 am on Saturday, Sunday
and Wednesday mornings provided that there is a minimum of 4 people for the
trip (max 8 people not including driver).

Some ground rules:

The trip is for the WTKI viewing only. The objective is to provide transport to
and from the site and allow enough time for satisfactory viewing the Kites
while there (up to ½ hour). Of course, this is no guarantee that you will
observe the birds (though with the active nest it is highly likely).

Trips are RSVP only and are arranged by calling the Preserve’s office at 863-
462-5360. If you call for a trip and the one you want is booked there will be a
waiting list, if needed, with no promises that you will in fact get the trip if you
are on the waiting list. You can not be simultaneously on a waiting list AND
RSVP’d for a trip.

These trips will run only for the next three weeks or so, dependant upon when
the nestlings fledge and they leave the area.

Remember that the speed limit in the Preserve is 25 mph (enforced)!
