Lectureship in Design, Analysis and Engineering of Algorithms
Computer Laboratory, University of Cambridge

The Faculty of Computer Science and Technology (the "Computer Laboratory") is seeking to appoint a University Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in the general area of the Design, Analysis and Engineering of Algorithms. This post is equivalent to an Assistant or Associate Professorship in US terms, leading to tenure in due course.

The topic will be broadly interpreted. Candidates with outstanding research potential and interests that fit within this description are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate would span the spectrum from theory to practice. We would particularly welcome candidates with research interests in fields such as:

- Algorithmic Game Theory

- Big-Data Analytics

- Compilation and Architectural Mapping of Algorithms

- Internet and Network Algorithms

- On-Line Algorithms

- Parallel Algorithms

- Scheduling and Resource Allocation Algorithms

as well as applications of these to other areas. This list should be seen as illustrative rather than exhaustive.

In addition to undertaking world-leading research, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the teaching of algorithms and to more general teaching depending on their expertise.

The post is available from 1 June 2013. It is expected that the successful candidate will take up the appointment by 1 October 2013. This is a tenured research and teaching post subject to a probationary period of up to five years. The salary scale for Lecturer is 37,012 - 46,846. Candidates with the relevant skills and experience may be appointed on the Senior Lecturer scale: 49,689 - 52,706.
