The SRWMD has an opening for an Environmental Scientist III. This person will be working on water quality/ecological data analyses in our Water Resources Division.
This is an advanced professional scientific position, requiring independently performed project coordination, research, analysis, and preparation of technical publications in several subject areas, including water quality chemistry, especially related to nutrient enrichment, springs and wetland ecology. The Environmental Scientist III will lead efforts in water quality and biological data assessment. This position will work closely in the identification of impairment related to water quality, biological or disturbance effects and hydrologic conditions, followed by development of remediation strategies to address impairment. These may be implemented via MFL recovery planning, Best Management Practice implementation, Basin Management Action Planning, or similar efforts. Strong written and oral communication skills are required and strong analytic, statistical and computer skills are preferred. Some fieldwork is required, sometimes in remote and undeveloped areas. Work outside normal hours is occasionally required.
