Below you will find the Call for Application's for this year's UF Prairie Project; there are programs for both faculty and graduate students interested in networking with a diverse group of colleagues and learning about curriculum development around sustainability topics.

Call for Applications for UF Prairie Project:

The UF Prairie Project draws together cohorts of faculty from diverse fields across the university to learn about sustainability, environmental and social issues. Based on a national program started at Emory University and endorsed by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE), the program consists of an two-day workshop that provided the foundation for the development of new courses or course materials and to build a skill set for leaders in the effort to infuse sustainability concepts into university curricula across the institution. This year's workshop will take place at Prairie Creek Lodge on May 6-7, 2013. The workshop includes discussions about broad sustainability issues and the political, economic, health, and ethical dimensions of these issues. Resource experts will provide information on ecology, public health, environmental justice, and an overview of campus environmental efforts. The lectures, discussions, outdoor time, and workshop materials will highlight connections among environmental dimensions of the campus, the region, and broader national and international issues of sustainability. Participants are invited to attend follow-up meetings with other fellows to form a "community of practice", in which they will report on their progress and share their learning experiences. Pedagogical innovation, as well as expanded content, is a fundamental goal of the Prairie Project.

Call for Applications for UF Graduate Fellows in Sustainability Prairie Project:
As part of a broader, university-wide awakening to environmental and sustainability concerns, the University of Florida Graduate Fellows in Sustainability Prairie Project focuses on graduate student professional development to address these urgent, yet long term, societal issues. The Prairie Project for Graduate Fellows will draw together approximately 30 UF graduate students from diverse fields across the university to learn about environmental issues and sustainability in a workshop May 9-10, 2013. Interested graduate students should submit their applications to the Office of Sustainability by March 15, 2013.
