2013 ARMA Madison, WI Chapter Spring Seminar

May 2, 2013
Fluno Center
Madison, Wisconsin

From Theory to Practice in an Every-Changing Digital World

Metadata, retention schedules, disposition processing, taxonomies, file plans, classification structures, big data, conversion/migration, preservation plans, etc...
... all of these requirements for life cycle information management boil down to two basic needs: to find and read the right information when it is needed, and to defensibly dispose of information when it is eligible. It seems simple, yet despite the fact that digital information has been around for over 50 years, most organizations still struggle to control the terabytes of electronic information under their management. Clearly, our ability to create content far outweighs our ability to control it! Perhaps part of the problem is that, as information management practitioners, we try to "boil the ocean" when a more strategic approach based on risk, value, cost, and even "low hanging fruit" will get measurable results. With the astronomical increase in the volume of information and the complexity of technology and storage issues a well-laid out plan is the only way to show progress.

The 2013 ARMA Madison spring seminar has been designed to provide the tools you need to develop a customized strategic approach to information management and governance. In addition, the seminar will provide the tactical guidance needed to enact the strategy in a measured and measurable manner. Good practices, resources and case studies will be presented by Huron Consulting Group, a leading advisory firm providing creative solutions to today's dynamic records and information management problems facing organizations of all sizes in a wide range of industries. Two panel discussions will feature "just in time" benchmarking and case studies, providing an interactive experience for seminar participants.

Co-sponsored by: Wisconsin Public Records Board (PRB) and the UW-Madison School of Library & Information Studies (SLIS)
This seminar has been pre-approved for ICRM Certification Maintenance Program (CMP) credit.
