Thomas W. Valente wrote an interesting review of four strategies for network interventions:

SOCNETers -- Are any of you aware of systematic evidenced-based reviews of SNA-inspired interventions, in which empirical evidence across multiple studies supports the notion of such interventions being beneficial to study populations, and under what circumstances?

For example, Chambers D, Wilson P, Thompson C, Harden M (2012) Social Network Analysis in Healthcare Settings: A Systematic Scoping Review. PLoS ONE 7(8):
e41911. doi:10.1371/journal.pone.0041911
"included 52 completed studies, reported in 62 publications. Almost all of the studies were limited to cross sectional descriptions of networks; only one involved using the results of the SNA as part of an intervention to change practice." [that was Anderson JG, Jay SJ, Perry J, Anderson MM (1990) Diffusion of computer applications among physicians: a quasi-experimental study. Clinical Sociological Review 8: 116–127.] They concluded that "We found very little evidence for the potential of SNA being realised in healthcare settings...Future research should seek to go beyond the merely descriptive to implement and evaluate SNA-based interventions."

Any such evidence-based reviews you're aware of would be extremely appreciated.       -ken
