John,

You are a master of re-writing history.

BTW, there is another type of absent tie... when someone gets pruned from a network.  ;-)

Hi –

…but you design the iPhone via strong business/professional ties.

Certainly GREAT things come from strong ties, e.g., Hewlett + Packard, Lennon + McCartney, Ethan + Joel Coen, Watson + Crick, etc.

The iPhone, aka the ‘Jesus Phone,’ was more a product of Jobs chronic autocracy and insurgent weak/absent ties (Apple communities).

Apple, err, Steve Jobs, specifically, vociferously and famously rejected design-by-committee (strong ties) for the iPhone.

The iPhone was successfully mostly because of irrational and affluent Apple communities (weak/absent ties).

iPhone was dubbed the ‘Jesus Phone’ because of its broad geographic base of ardent Apple acolytes (weak/absent ties). They adhere to the messianic spirit of Steve Jobs.

John,

Maybe you sell you chainsaw on eBay via "absent" ties, but you design the iPhone via strong business/professional ties.
