At risk of boring everyone, circumstances keep getting better here in NE
Florida. A visit to the city Greenway found many passerines still present in
the deep woodlands and a venture onto open trails at mid-morning found
Merlin, Peregrines, Ospreys and one Coopers Hawk roosting in snags with
flocks of Great Blues and Lt. Green Herons bombing out of the low ceiling to
find refuge in the tree canopies. Small nos. of Osprey and some flocks of
Great Blues pressed on in the light rain. Via regional radar, the rains
appear restricted to Nassau and Duval Counties, consequently the large fall
out may be restricted to extreme NE Florida. Doubtless, large nos. of birds
are in or above the cloud ceiling pushing south.
