Hello BESTers,

This past Wednesday was World Food Day and there's a new trend arising
to celebrate this day: disco soup. Disco soups are events where people
bring together recovered food from farms and markets to cook soup to
donate to the needy. It started in 2012 in Germany and there have since
been several events throughout Europe. The first US Disco Soup event
was held in New York City this past September. The events are being
spearheaded by Feeding the 5000, an organization founded by Tristram
Stuart, a prominent food waste activist. As a grass-roots event, disco
soups can happen anywhere, and it'd be great to see these as a way of
recovering food waste while bringing the community together.

Have a great weekend,
Ryan
