Call for Abstracts for Track on “Words and Networks” at 2014 Sunbelt Social Network Conference
We (Jana Diesner and Peter Gloor) are again organizing a special theme track on "Words and Networks" for Sunbelt XXXIV in St Pete, FL, February 18-23, 2014 (http://www.sunbelt2014.org/). We
are soliciting abstracts that address cutting edge research at the nexus of text analysis and network analysis.
While text analysis and network analysis have evolved into mature yet still quickly advancing fields, work at their intersection is less prevalent. We are looking for theoretical,
empirical, methodological and computational contributions that utilize both natural language text data and network data. Jointly considering
text data and network data enables the analysis of networks along multiple dimensions of human behavior. This approach has facilitated eminent work on language change, the spread and adoption of information, beliefs, sentiments and rumors online and offline, collective
problem solving through information propagation, and relation extraction techniques, to name a few areas. The overall goal with this track is
to bring together people that bridge the gap between text analysis and network analysis, and to discuss current progress and challenges in this area.
Deadline: Nov 31, 2013
Length: 250 words or less
When submitting your abstract, please select “Words and networks” as the keyword for your presentation (last item in keyword list, on page two of the submission process). To be extra sure, you can also put "Words and Networks with Diesner and Gloor" in the
comment box for "Comments for Conference Director" on page one of the submission process.
