Ft. Clinch State Park, jetty beach: On this morning's (very foggy) high
tide, 3 Purple sandpiper were found roosting amongst a small flock of Ruddy
Turnstone. This triples the no. of PUSA recorded here this autumn, but falls
well short of the record 12 recorded here many years past. Prior to
departing the traditional larid roost site, I witnessed yet another
disturbance event by an adult man and several young boys. It would seem that
the Park's, recently installed, shorebird roost sign at the beach access
point is being ignored by some patrons. Either that are they are illiterate.
A broad variety of larids were massed on the beach and a single flock of
Black Scoters passed north well out over the ocean.
