Today an experienced and reliable birder reported to us a well-described
Western/Clark's Grebe that he saw yesterday. The bird was in the
Intracoastal Waterway about 1.5 miles west of the Perdido Key bridge near a
boat landing.

The bird was described as having a very long neck, a big yellow bill, white
on the lower face and dark above, much larger than a Horned Grebe.

Access to the area: Try Big Lagoon State Park, and any public access areas
between Big Lagoon and points westward toward Perdido Bay along the
Intracoastal Waterway. There are several side streets that dead end along
this waterway.

Please report any sightings to us so that we can alert the birding community
about this rare vagrant to our area.

Good luck!
