Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Position in Big Data and Health
Department of Media and Information
Michigan State University

The Department of Media and Information (MI) at Michigan State University (MSU) invites applications for a full-time, tenure system faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of big data with a strong interest in health, health IT, e-health, and/or m-health. We seek a scholar conducting cutting-edge social and/or technical research utilizing big data approaches.

The successful candidate will participate in the Trifecta, an interdisciplinary joint initiative by the Colleges of Communication Arts and Sciences, Engineering, and Nursing with the overarching goal of using technology to improve health outcomes and health care organization and delivery. We encourage individuals from a diverse range of disciplinary and methodological traditions to apply. A PhD in a relevant discipline should be completed prior to the start of the appointment, expected to be August 16, 2015.

The MI department is a member of the iSchools consortium, and home to a dynamic, interdisciplinary faculty internationally renowned for their cutting-edge research on the uses and implications of ICTs. The doctoral program in Media and Information Studies, offered jointly by MI along with the Departments of Journalism and Advertising & Public Relations, was recently ranked #3 among Media Ph.D. programs in the U.S. by the National Research Council.
