Dear Jan (I enjoy your website!),

Thanks much for your image of Cucumaria miniata with "blisters". This is a mystery to me, and I wonder if it is indeed a manifestation of some sort of disease? I am copying several people with this e-mail - Chris Mah, who also forwarded your image to me; Phil Lambert, who is the best expert on Pacific NW sea cucumbers; and a world-wide group of sea cucumber specialists. I hope some sort of answer will be forthcoming....

Best wishes, Dave Pawson

Subject: Cucumaria miniata question

Greetings from Whidbey Island, Washington State, USA.
On my dive yesterday, I came upon few of these sea cucumbers. Never before I have seen this kind of blisters on them before.
I tried to get some answers locally, but so far, no luck.
I hope you can shed some light. Found in strong current area of Deception Pass in depth of nine meters.
Thank you,
Best Regards,
Jan Kocian
