Our center uses colored solo cups: green = no help needed, red = need help with writing, humanities, social sciences, yellow = need help with math, science, accounting, computers. Student simply move the colored cup to the top when they need help in a particular subject area.

They are cheap to purchase and restock and they make a noise when they are moved so the staff have been conditioned to look up when they hear a cup.

We will be beta testing a home grown electronic queue system which will show tables waiting on two large monitors at either end of the room. This will allow us to track wait times, time spent on tutoring, and who is next in line.

We have low-tech and high-tech options at our disposal.

Subject: Tutor "Flagging System" Ideas

Hello All,

We are in the process of switching the focus of how students receive tutoring services through our success center. We are wanting to discourage a culture of students from being codependent on our tutors by utilizing some sort of flagging system to alert the tutors to students when they are requiring assistance with a concept. We would be tremendously grateful to hear what other centers have found to work well with their students and any tips on implementing this new system.

Thank you,

Daniel Bates
