TITLE OF POSITION:

Assistant Director for Learning Services

STATUS:

Full-time, 12-months

DEPARTMENT:

Learning and Advising Center

QUALIFICATIONS:

Three years' experience in higher education, specifically in the delivery and development of academic assistance.  College-level teaching experience is preferred.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Master's degree in education or a related discipline.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Philadelphia University seeks a student-centered higher education professional to coordinate campus-wide peer tutoring services, manage the Learning and Advising Center's reception area, and administer STARFISH, an electronic early alert and communication system. The Assistant Director for Learning Services is a key position and essential to maintaining the supportive and non-stigmatized culture of help-seeking that currently characterizes student perception of the Learning and Advising Center. The Assistant Director for Learning Services is the initial contact for students seeking academic assistance and sets the tone for the student experience in the Learning and Advising Center.
Duties include the creation of semester tutoring and office assistant schedules; the recruitment, hiring, training, certification and evaluation of peer tutors, office assistants and SI leaders; Administration of STARFISH early alert and connect; liaison with faculty and professional tutors to ensure appropriate academic support for students and to promote academic support services; reporting of statistical service data; study skills workshops for undergraduate and graduate students and proactive outreach to students identified as at academic risk; management of payroll for peer tutors and office assistants; and assessment of peer tutoring services.
