Thank you everybody for your interest in the question!  I am not looking for accuracy as much as I am a baseline to match the details and culture on my end...I am just looking for a general baseline ratio (1 tutor: number of enrolled students at the campus) or we could also look at (1 tutor: number of students who actually utilized tutoring per semester).  I realize institution programs vary, as well as academic focus could be a factor, but I am just trying to get a feel for the number of students you have versus the number of tutors you have.  I can give or take with the ratio, it doesn't have to be precise.  Thanks again for any input you might have.

It might depend upon how you look at it as Robert said also, are you looking at staffing hours or just bodies. Not all tutors tutor the same amount of hours. Very good question though!

I would deem the ratio as (1 tutor = 1 warm body:  number of students enrolled at the campus).

We could also look at (1 tutor = 1 warm body:  number of students who actually utilized the resource center per semester).

That’s an interesting question. I guess how you figure your ratio would depend on how you define “1” tutor: is it ...

*  each individual tutor, regardless of how many hours they work,

*  or would it be overall tutorial time divided by the number of hours an employee has to work in order to be ‘full-time’ at your institution;

* or, do you count them as “instructional hours” (which I know are counted differently for purposes of benefits, etc.)????

Geez, I just confused myself.

What definition would make sense? What kind of ratio would be most helpful?
