Angie,

I agree with Gina. Usually, our tutors are busy. On the occasions when they are not, if we do not have a task we need help with, we allow them to work on their homework. We do have an understanding that the homework is put away the moment a client needs their help.

Angie,
We allow them to work on their homework and studying--because we expect them to remain "the best of the best."
As students, we feel succeeding in their courses is one of their top responsibilities and helps them with helping other students.
Additionally, it is a perk of a job that requires much of them and pays so little monetarily.

Subject: tutor down time

Hi, All!

I am new to my position and would like to know how other peer-tutoring programs deal with tutor down time. Besides the usual office related tasks
- classroom visits, textbook library upkeep, advertisements, office clean up -what does your program ask of its tutors when they have a set schedule and no students scheduled during a time frame? I need to keep my tutors busy; however, I do not have a ton of time to supervise every task.

Your suggestions and ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
