Postdoctoral Researcher, Transaction Network Analysis
I am seeking to hire a postdoctoral researcher with interest and skills in the analysis of the structure, evolution, and effects of inter-firm and inter-industry relations. Support for the position
is provided by a grant from the
Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada
for the project entitled “Using Inter-firm Transaction Networks to Characterize Sector and Value Chain Architectures”. The project team includes faculty
and researchers from the
University of Waterloo
(Margaret Dalziel), Simon Fraser University (Ian McCarthy, Jon Thomas), and the Singapore University of Technology and Design (Jianxi Luo).
The ideal applicant will be a productive scholar with knowledge of strategy and industrial organization economics, particularly those aspects that inform the emerging industry architecture literature.
Experience in social network analysis and working with input-output tables are assets; a PhD, advanced quantitative analysis skills, and exemplary written English are required
The researcher will collaborate on the analysis of a large, longitudinal dataset of the largest inter-firm transactions in the US economy, and on the preparation of publications. This is a one-year
position with a salary of approximately $45,000 CAD, beginning as soon as possible. Residency in Waterloo, Canada is desired but not essential. Participation in a major international conference will be supported.
