Student Success Advocate

Director of SuCCess Center/TRIO Programs Coordinator 

The Student Success Advocate (SSA) provides quality direct support services that enable SCC students' academic, personal and social growth which will consequently improve individual and college-wide student satisfaction, retention, progression, and completion. The SSA will develop and deliver proactive, collaborative, comprehensive and effective student outreach and support strategies, workshops, services and resources that assist students in identifying individual needs and achieving individual goals. The SSA will be cross-trained with other Student Services staff to ensure the ability to provide cross-functional services, referrals and back-up support as needed and will be assigned specific leadership duties in one of the following areas: testing services; peer tutoring/mentoring/learning cohorts; disability accommodations; early intervention/retention protocols. Basic responsibilities include one-to-one and group interaction with and on behalf of students to support their academic and personal self-efficacy and to ensure a coordinated, holistic approach to student success across the entire institution. 

. Bachelor's degree with emphasis in Student Affairs/Development, Higher Education, Psychology, Social Work, or related area required; Master's Degree preferred. 
. Minimum 3 years work experience in college student development/affairs setting preferred. 
. Superior customer-service skills to include patience, compassion, humility and a positive attitude are required. 
. Well-developed abilities with prioritization, time-management, sound judgment, timely follow-up and follow-through are essential. 
. Verbal and written proficiency in Spanish preferred. 
. Strong presentation, facilitation, written, verbal, listening and interpersonal communication skills to help inspire, engage, provide support to and challenge students. 
. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and social media and ability to learn and develop competency in student databases, SCC's administrative software (Elucian), and various learning-success/retention-focused programs, applications, and technologies (i.e. PLATO, SmarThinking, textHELP, StudentLingo, etc.).

	This position is a full-time position (262-day contract); salary commensurate with experience and qualifications, with a minimum salary of $32,000.00. Benefits include single ($250 deductible) medical, dental & vision insurance, $50,000 life insurance, long-term disability, paid sick leave, 15 days vacation and participation in IPERS or TIAA-CREF retirement plan.
