Hi Tera & All,

I have attached what we use at Bridgewater State University, in Massachusetts as a part of our Tutor Training Program. We cover FERPA/Confidentiality in two of our training workshops; Workshop II: The Tutoring Process, which of course covers how tutors engage with students and often become privy to confidential "tid-bits" of a student's personal and academic life, and in Workshop III: Tutoring Students with Disabilities, where issues of confidentiality become even more important for tutors to understand. (this attachment is actually a page copied from the workshops) We spend considerable time discussing this with our tutors to make sure they understand how important confidentiality is to building trust/rapport with their students, as well as it being the law. It also gives them a wealth of understanding about how their own lives are protected by FERPA.

My form models pretty closely Michelle Doney's and I'm sure others of us have developed similar forms as well. Feel free to develop one yourself, and I strongly recommend that whatever you develop, it's backed up in training.

Take care on a sunny day on my side of the Mississippi !

Subject: Confidentiality Agreement

Hello All- At times our tutors have access to student information of a "personally identifiable" nature. We would like all tutors to sign an agreement as to our expectations regarding the privacy of the information they may have access to during their employment with us. Does anyone have such a document that they would be willing to share with us?

Thanks much,
