Hello Jenny,

In reference to the timing of your supporting sessions, we have tried both alternating dates and same dates for scheduling. The students have better attendance at sessions on the same date.

As far as "check-out" time, we find peak utilization of our SLA and tutoring assets to be between 10:00 and 4:00.

Since we are talking about our students, demographics are important. Here are our demographics:
* Enrollment: approximately 10,000
* Minority: approximately 35%
* Non-traditional: approximately 51%
* Military related: approximately 26%
* Enter with academic deficiency: Approx. 42%
* Pell recipient: Approx. 52%

Hope this helps,

Subject: SI & Learning Community questions

Hi, everyone.

I work at Mississippi University for Women. We are planning a learning community for our developmental students beginning in Fall 2016. I have a few questions and would greatly appreciate any input.

--Regarding SI sessions, do you find it better for students to have the sessions on the same days as the course or an alternating days?

-- Regarding paired courses, do you find it better for students to have the paired courses on the same days or on alternating days?

-- In your experience, what time in the afternoon do students "check out" and are no longer engaged in courses? We have to run at least one, maybe two, afternoon courses, but I do not want them scheduled so late that students are too unfocused/tired to be engaged.

-- If any of you have good resource suggestions for setting up Learning Communities for developmental students at the university level, please share those with me.

Thank you in advance for all of your assistance.

Kindest regards,
