Please consider contributing to a session on “Changes in Social Networks and Resources through the Life Course” at the XXXVI Sunbelt Conference, April 5-10, 2016 at
Newport Beach, California.
Description:
We know a quite bit about network dynamics during relatively short periods (e.g. friendship formation in classrooms) but longitudinal studies about changes in networks
- and in particular changes in social resources - during one’s life are comparatively scarce and processes are not systematically documented and explained.
The session invites papers focusing on both, changes in networks as well as changes in social capital through the life course and bringing together theoretical approaches
and empirical tests. In addition, papers focusing on methodological issues in the study of network changes are very welcome.
Organizer: Beate Volker, Professor of Sociology, University of Amsterdam
