To INSNA Members on behalf of Patricia Mabry:

Dear INSNA colleagues,

See  below. I strongly encourage you to complete the survey so as to facilitate network science representation on NIH review committees where appropriate. Please encourage your colleagues, especially those with expertise in network science and related approaches, to participate as well.  Of course, the survey is not limited to any methodological area, so be sure to indicate all areas in which you have expertise. The survey can be found at https://prevention-tools.od.nih.gov/expertise-survey/start.aspx?utm_source=dm-ceb&_medium=email&utm_campaign=expertise-survey

Subject: NEW! NIH Prevention Research Expertise Survey – Your Participation is Requested

Dear Dr. Mabry,

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Disease Prevention (ODP) is launching an initiative to enhance the scientific rigor of NIH-funded research projects and is seeking your help. The ODP is developing a database of experts in research methods relevant to prevention research that can help Scientific Review Officers (SROs) identify reviewers for NIH grant applications. By completing the Prevention Research Expertise Survey https://prevention-tools.od.nih.gov/expertise-survey/start.aspx?utm_source=dm-ceb&_medium=email&utm_campaign=expertise-survey you will be providing the content for an “electronic directory” that will aid SROs in identifying appropriate experts to serve on their review committees and in matching the most qualified reviewers to specific grant applications.

Please take a few minutes to share this survey with your society’s listserv and colleagues who have expertise in research methods relevant to prevention research.  The survey asks the respondent to provide information about his or her scientific and grant review expertise. Please know that the NIH will not share the information with any organizations or individuals outside of the federal government. The information will be used primarily by NIH for the purpose of identifying reviewers, but may also be used to identify appropriate experts for other NIH activities such as serving on panels, committees, workgroups, writing groups, or for similar purposes by other federal agencies.

The ODP is the lead Office at the NIH responsible for assessing, facilitating, and stimulating research in disease prevention and health promotion and for disseminating the results of this research to improve public health. For more information visit the ODP website https://prevention.nih.gov/ .

Thank you for taking the time to share this survey!
