Jennifer,

We created free, no-credit GRE courses for the Verbal and Quantitative
exams, with multiple sections every semester. Classes of 5-25 students
met 3 hours a week for 4 weeks during fall and spring semesters, daily
for 12 class days in summer. Official GRE materials and a very old book
of GRE practice tests (also available in the campus library) were mined
for daily in-class quizzes and instruction; students purchased copies of
the Kaplan practice test book for homework. Students charted their
progress and alerted class to topics still in need of further work.

If students had taken the GRE before (some were dissatisfied with their
first score; some were master's students preparing to apply to doctoral
programs), we could evaluate success by the change in official score.
