Clemson's tutors used to wear vests (which we all disliked for many reasons): http://www.clemson.edu/asc/tutoring/

In the last couple of semesters, I transitioned them into nametags. The tutors love them and when a new tutor receives his/her nametag, I often hear "Do I get to keep this?" I am excited about the buy-in it creates and how professional the nametag makes the tutors feel. I do want to note that the nametag transition came about when I moved all of our drop-in tutoring from a large library into the bottom floor of our learning center. If my space was large, I would be apt to stick with the vests. We also give new tutors an ASC shirt, but they are not required to wear them as uniforms.

Mine also wear lanyards that we have color coded to math their content area. They complete to see who can get the most!

Our tutors wear lanyards around their neck, with their tutor I.D.'s. When they receive CRLA certification, they get a BRIGHT yellow lanyard, very visible in the tutoring room!
Thanks~

Subject: Tutoring Apparel

Hello All,

I am wondering if anyone has suggestions on apparel that tutors could wear to help them stand out in a busy drop-in room.

We require all tutors to wear nametags, but when the room is busy a nametag can be hard to spot. We've been playing around with the idea of a brightly colored safety vest or sash.

If anyone has any ideas they would be willing to share that would be greatly appreciated.

Best,
