Title:

Online and offline social networks and the development of sexual agency

 

Description:

The purpose of this ARC-funded project is to investigate the relationship between social network properties of adolescents and healthy sexual development, in particular, the development of sexual agency.

 

The PhD candidate will be responsible for the development of the social network theoretical framework and methodology for the study. This includes conducting a review of the literature in the space of social networks and sexual health to suggest a theoretical framework for the study and includes designing the social network data collection process, survey, implementation and network data analysis. It is envisaged that social network data collection will occur both in online (e.g. online diaries) and offline modes (e.g. in-depth interviews).

 

The PhD student will be supervised by Dr. Ken Chung, in collaboration with the project team comprising academics from the City University of New York, the University of Sydney, University of New South Wales and the Burnet Institute. The PhD student will be joining the team’s ARC Discovery Project “Online and Offline social networks and the development of sexual agency” within the Faculty of Engineering & Information Technologies, University of Sydney.
