The Climate Change Science Institute (CCSI) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is continuing its search for two senior research scientists. Resources will be provided to support the start-up of these positions. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to draw upon the substantial expertise and tools available at ORNL including one of the fastest and most capable supercomputers in the world, world-class climate, population, and urban dynamic models, sophisticated data management and visualization tools, and an exceptional research collaboration environment. Impacts, Adaptation, and Vulnerability (IAV). The IAV position is joint between CCSI and the Urban Dynamics Institute. The successful candidate will be a leading thought leader in the field of IAV research. She/he will be expected to grow and lead IAV projects and staff that advance the state-of-the art in the research, modeling, and analysis of climate change impacts.
Data Integration, Dissemination, and Informatics (DIDI). The DIDI position is joint between CCSI and the National Center for Computational Sciences. The successful candidate will be a leading thought leader in the field of data research. She/he will be expected to grow and lead new data research programs. This person will help solve the “big data” problem associated with studying the climate system and how natural and human systems influence and are impacted by a changing climate. A key focus will be identifying, accessing, and using data in novel ways to address some of the most pressing challenges facing humankind.
