Firms with expertise in planning, smart growth, and community
revitalization are encouraged to take a look at three new solicitationsfrom
EPA’s Office of Sustainable Communities <https://www.epa.gov/smartgrowth>.
These solicitations will support the Local Foods, Local Places; Cool &
Connected; and Healthy Places for Healthy People programs. The
solicitations will close at* 10 am Eastern on Wednesday, August 10, 2016*.

Local Foods, Local Places
<https://www.epa.gov/smartgrowth/local-foods-local-places> helps
communities create walkable, healthy, economically vibrant neighborhoods
through the development of local food systems. This initiative is supported
by EPA, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention, the U.S. Department of Transportation, the Appalachian
Regional Commission, and the Delta Regional Authority.

Cool & Connected <https://www.epa.gov/smartgrowth/cool-connected> helps
rural communities use broadband service to revitalize small-town main
streets and promote economic development. The initiative is supported by
EPA, the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Utilities Service, and the
Appalachian Regional Commission.

Healthy Places for Healthy People is a new program to help communities
partner with Federally Qualified Health Centers, nonprofit hospitals, and
other healthcare facilities to create walkable, healthy, economically
vibrant places. Under this program, modeled on the approach of Local Foods,
Local Places and Cool & Connected, communities will receive planning
assistance to develop action plans promoting healthy, walkable,
economically thriving downtowns and neighborhoods. Healthy Places for
Healthy People will focus on communities that are economically challenged,
including those in rural Appalachia.

For information on the Request for Qualifications for these three programs,
see RFQ-DC-16-00199 at:
