Barriers and Facilitators to Completion of an Undergraduate Nursing Program:
Exploration of Mindfulness, Mindlessness, and Retention Among Ethnic

This presentation will discuss findings of a qualitative study that explored
ethnic minority undergraduate nursing student's struggles and successes
while attending an undergraduate nursing program.

It will be facilitated by Dr. Amber Young-Brice, a Clinical Assistant
Professor in the College of Nursing and Education Consultant in the Center
for Teaching and Learning at Marquette University. Amber's current research
focuses on ethnic minority nursing students' experiences while in college.
She examines instances of mindfulness or mindlessness within their personal
narratives and how those concepts may contribute as barriers or facilitators
in degree completion.
