Hi Philipp, my group (particularly Ben and Justin, cc'ed here) helps to coordinate many of the R related events here at UF (see below).

Let us know if you want to get involved in this.

Best,
Denis

Hi everyone,

Hope you have a great summer and a good start of fall semester.

Thanks to UFII and UF's library support, we will be starting the weekly R-meetup again in the fall semester. The goal of the UF R-meetup is to build an R community within UF, providing space (and time!) for all R users to come together, to learn, discuss and share knowledge on R.

On each Wednesday, we meet for two hours (from 4 to 6pm) in Marston Science Library. The meetup consists of two parts. First 45 to 60 minutes will be a learn-and-share session. In some weeks, we will go through some tutorials together to learn more about R; in other weeks, some of us will talk about more advanced R topics. The second half of the R meetup will be an R clinic session, in which we hope people interact with each other and help solve each other's R problem.

For the first few weeks, we'll be doing some simple exercises of exploratory data analysis together, and learn about some basics of R.

Who: people that want to talk about R, either to learn more about R or to share what you already know.
When: Every Wednesday starting from Aug 30 2017, 4:00 to 6:00PM
Where: Marston science library Room 137
What to bring: Nothing is compulsory but laptop is recommended, and your expertise because we love to hear what everyone is doing!
There'll usually be snacks and drinks available during the meetup too!

Feel free to contact us (Justin: [log in to unmask] or Ben: [log in to unmask]) if you have any suggestions (e.g., topics that you'd like to see covered or changes to the R meetup format) or if you'd like to present. And please forward the email to your friends and colleagues who may be interested in the meetup.

We're also running the UF R User LISTSERV, where we receive updates about the meetup, and other R-related activities. Members of the list are encouraged to post their R-related questions to the list. Key in your email address in this google form (http://tinyurl.com/UFRUser (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.) if you wish to join the LISTSERV!

Thank you and hope to see you soon!
