Job Description:

General Statement of Duties

Under the general supervision of the Assistant Dean of the Library and Academic Support Services oversees and manages academic support services on each of the campuses. In conjunction with the Assistant Dean and Vice President of Academic Affairs manages testing services for the college, including placement testing, certification testing and off-site proctoring. Responsible for program development and implementation, developing instructional materials/resources and directing tutoring activities.




Lead and supervise staff providing academic support and testing services.

Manage the dissemination of information regarding academic support resources to students, faculty, staff and the larger college community.

Prepare the budget for academic support and testing services.

Establish and maintain policies and procedures for effective and efficient use of support and testing services.

Oversee the maintenance of all resources used to provide academic support and testing services.

Serve as a resource for faculty on issues related to academic support and testing services.

Oversee provision of academic support and testing services for students with disabilities.

Participate in college activities that are geared toward improving student retention.

Oversee administration of placement testing.

Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate professional, paraprofessional and peer tutors and manage eTutoring platform.

Create and conduct relevant workshops for tutors, faculty and staff.

Oversee the implementation and maintenance of technologies used for academic support and testing services, including the implementation of the MyFoundationsLab program.

Maintain standing in the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) certification program.

Serve on college committees relevant to academic support and testing services.

Perform other services and duties as assigned.


Bachelor's degree in English, mathematics or discipline taught at the college plus 15 graduate hours and four years of higher education or related experience required, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Master's degree or higher in English, mathematics or discipline taught at the college preferred.

Experience working in a college/university academic support, advising or tutoring center.

Knowledge of assessment techniques in higher education and experience with placement testing.

Experience working with at-risk students at the community college level.

Experience in planning, developing and managing academic support programs at the post-secondary level.

A minimum of five years supervisory experience.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires data-driven decision making.

Ability to organize, manage and facilitate staff training.

Ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal communication.

Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with staff, faculty, administrators, and students.

Excellent administrative skills.

Demonstrated sensitivity and ability to work with a diverse population of students.

Knowledge of disability issues and strategies.

Additional Information:

Salary:  $65,000.00-$72,000.00
