Hi Folks,

Here's another good one: Tutor Match is sort of like the Uber of tutoring, but anyone can use its GoBoard without using the tutor matching services. https://goboard.com/

We have been trying to get a useful and user friendly set up going for three years. Each new iteration has its own set of issues. Currently we use the collaborations platform in Canvas, our LMS.

Our students do not prefer f2f. Often our tutors and students work together within a Google Doc or just talk on their good ole fashion smart phones.

Let's keep this conversation going!

We have been using WebEx, which offers a blackboard option where students and tutors can work together on information while seeing and speaking together as well. WebEx also allows for groups of students to be tutored at the same time, as long as everyone has a camera.

Hello Shevawn,

Wishing you a fantastic day!

I was going to inquire about tutoring using Skype for Business with the group, but then I came across your prior message.

I know that you stated that you are at the beginning stages of this process and that will be the same for our center as well.

I have some research to do myself, but I wanted to see if necessary, could I reach out to you for advice or suggestions?

Please and thank you in advance.

Hello, Shevawn:

Yes, we use Skype for online tutoring. At the moment we are in the fledgling stages of online tutoring, but Skype for Business (not regular Skype) is very effective. Skype for Business offers a whiteboard, screen sharing, presentation features, etc. Tutees do not have to have the software installed on their computers. The tutor can send a link to access a tutoring session via Outlook 365.

Hope this helps!

Is anyone using Skype for on-line tutoring? Is it effective? Anything we should know?

Thanks
