About University at Albany:
The University at Albany has a diverse population of approximately 17,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, University at Albany, seeks applicants for a Full Professor faculty position beginning September 2018 for Chair of the Department of Computer Science.
The successful candidate will have an established record of scholarship with demonstrated potential to influence the growth and development of computer science programs at the University at Albany.
We are building a research-intensive College of Engineering and Applied Sciences in the tradition of the best high-caliber public programs in the country. The cornerstone of the college, the Department of Computer Science has been in existence since 1967, and provided a foundation for the establishment of our first engineering program, Computer Engineering, in 2016.
Computer Science, together with Electrical and Computer Engineering, are just the beginning. Programs in several other engineering disciplines are in development; the College is in an exciting period of rapid growth. From our downtown location we will engage the community, looking to inspire a more diverse generation of students to pursue careers in the engineering and applied sciences. Our programs provide an education that prepares students for careers not just in the engineering sciences, but also for careers and/or postgraduate studies in many other fields, including law, medicine, finance, management, and more.
The Department of Computer Science resides in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, which also currently houses the Departments of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Environmental and Sustainable Engineering.
