The UF International Center's Fulbright Programs will host "The Path to Fulbright: Challenges, Opportunities, and Rewards" - a talk by award-winning soprano and music professor Dr. Marcía Porter - from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, September 14, 2018 in Room 101 of the Music Building on the UF campus.

Dr. Porter is a graduate of the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts who earned bachelor's and master's degrees in voice performance from Northwestern University, followed by a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in performance from the University of Michigan. In 2011-2012, she was a Fulbright scholar in Brazil, where she presented many recitals, lectures, and master classes during her residency at the University of São Paulo. Having performed throughout Brazil, the Czech Republic, Italy, and the United States, she is Southeastern Regional Governor of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and serves on its board of directors. Her discography includes the 2011 premiere recording of Requiem für Mozart and Open Thine Heart, a recording of contemporary American vocal works.

A meet-and-greet reception with refreshments will follow the talk and question-and-answer session.
