Hello Abe,

You may also want to contact the eTutoring.org representative for your region.  For those of you who are not familiar, in a nutshell, it is an eTutoring co-op.  Each college contributes a specific number of eTutoring hours and all colleges’ students can access all tutors’ services across colleges and universities.  We are part of the Western eTutoring Consortium (along with 40+ other colleges).  Their most robust service is writing tutoring.  eTutoring.org requires extensive training and ongoing evaluation for all writing tutors.  There is also a customized web-based platform at eTutoring.org.  I am not sure if the training and quality-control is the same across all of the consortiums that eTutoring.org manages, but I can say that the Western eTutoring Consortium does a fantastic job.  More info here: www.etutoring.org

Subject: Online Tutoring for Writing

Dear Colleagues,

Does anyone have experience with delivering online peer tutoring specifically for writing? If so, what has worked well? What challenges with the actual delivery of tutoring in a distance education format have you experienced, if any?

Thank you!

Abe
