One of the items we created for our first "clean up" session was a door hanger, similar to the "Do Not Disturb" signs at hotels.   Each employee was given one.  If they had an office with a door, it was hung on the doorknob.   If they had a cubicle, it was attached to the outside of the cubicle.

This enabled them to have an uninterrupted period of time to clean up their file shares, network drives and even their physical file cabinets.

Many continue to use this door hanger to this day.   I add a post-it-note under the "Do Not Disturb" to indicate that I'm on a conference call, or doing on-line training etc.
