Come spend your early January attending great international systems conference with highly visible published proceedings, at a *spectacular* location on Maui, Hawaii. HICSS 52 is the 9th consecutive year that we'll be offering a Network Analysis specific minitrack, and the mix of papers and session conversation has always been outstanding. We look forward to another year of great submissions from the network analysis community. --- Call For Papers: NETWORK ANALYSIS OF DIGITAL AND SOCIAL MEDIA 52nd HAWAII INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SYSTEM SCIENCES (HICSS) Minitrack: Network Analysis of Digital and Social Media Track: Digital and Social Media https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www.hicss.org&d=DwIFaQ&c=pZJPUDQ3SB9JplYbifm4nt2lEVG5pWx2KikqINpWlZM&r=uXI5O6HThk1ULkPyaT6h2Ws3RKNKSY__GQ4DuS9UHhs&m=g3aFqk-OKff3Wi8T8T_TtsNEvlN2acu3tEeDaAvG4bU&s=3N4jrkMOLmbuYqDoadfyQs3jLD5IkvLAYbY-1QF72tU&e= Conference: JANUARY 7-11, 2019 Grand Wailea <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.grandwailea.com_&d=DwIFaQ&c=pZJPUDQ3SB9JplYbifm4nt2lEVG5pWx2KikqINpWlZM&r=uXI5O6HThk1ULkPyaT6h2Ws3RKNKSY__GQ4DuS9UHhs&m=g3aFqk-OKff3Wi8T8T_TtsNEvlN2acu3tEeDaAvG4bU&s=5CdXofo9zbJV_WQBRoPKJ-z6grtajlw3sTFwe-T-PP4&e=>, Maui, Hawaii Papers due by June 15, 2018 (11:59 PM, Hawaii Time, author instructions here <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__hicss.hawaii.edu_tracks-2Dand-2Dminitracks_authors_&d=DwIFaQ&c=pZJPUDQ3SB9JplYbifm4nt2lEVG5pWx2KikqINpWlZM&r=uXI5O6HThk1ULkPyaT6h2Ws3RKNKSY__GQ4DuS9UHhs&m=g3aFqk-OKff3Wi8T8T_TtsNEvlN2acu3tEeDaAvG4bU&s=hp8U_Wj8xIs9hp2kxtS1GVMaZ1_bVQH39FvlO2-SA1M&e=>) MINITRACK: NETWORK ANALYSIS OF DIGITAL AND SOCIAL MEDIA Network science focuses on the structure of systems and how the components of a system come together, expressed as patterns or regularities in relationships among interacting units. Network analysis reveals the underlying structure and the dynamic interactions among system components. Network science and the development of digital and social media have co-evolved as catalysts of each other’s advancement, and the increased use of social and digital media provides scientists with a wealth of precise and novel data. We welcome submissions that represent insightful ways that network analysis can be used to better understand social and digital media. Both methodologically and theoretically driven papers are encouraged, as well as empirical research (e.g. telecommunication, health, website specific, international, organizational, etc.) that push the boundaries of network science as applied to social and digital media. Forward-thinking and boundary-spanning forms of research including, but not limited to, the study of multi-level, localized and ego-centric networks are particularly welcome. List of topics, as related to Digital and/or Social Media: Theories of Social Networks Models of Social Networks Communication Networks Telecommunication Networks Internet World-wide Web Longitudinal Network Analysis Visualization of Social Networks Two-mode / Affiliation / Bi-partite Networks Determining Network Structure and Processes Self-organizing and Decentralized Networks Social Influence Social Factors MINITRACK ORGANIZERS Devan Rosen, Ithaca College, [log in to unmask] George A. HICSS provides a highly interactive working environment for top scholars from academia and the industry from over 60 countries to exchange ideas in various areas of information, computer, and system sciences. Recent research shows HICSS ranked second in citation ranking among 18 Information Systems (IS) conferences , ranked third in value to the MIS field among 13 Management Information Systems (MIS) conferences , and ranked second in conference rating among 11 IS conferences ; references can be found at https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__hicss&d=DwIFaQ&c=pZJPUDQ3SB9JplYbifm4nt2lEVG5pWx2KikqINpWlZM&r=uXI5O6HThk1ULkPyaT6h2Ws3RKNKSY__GQ4DuS9UHhs&m=g3aFqk-OKff3Wi8T8T_TtsNEvlN2acu3tEeDaAvG4bU&s=b8C-IaAJ7banM8qCcSvduW_dO6Y4rDnmvOhX4rOPrc0&e= .hawaii.edu/about/. Unique characteristics of the conference include: - A matrix structure of tracks and themes that enables research on a rich mixture of cutting-edge computer-based applications and technologies. - Three days of research paper presentations and discussions in a workshop setting that promotes interaction leading to revised and extended papers that are published in journals, books, and special issues as well as additional research. - A full day of Symposia, Workshops, and Tutorials. - Keynote addresses and distinguished lectures which explore particularly relevant topics and concepts. - Best Paper Awards in each track which recognize superior research performance. - HICSS is the #1 IS conference in terms of citations as recorded by Google Scholar. - A doctoral consortium that helps participants work with senior scholars on their work-in-progress leading to journal publications. - HICSS panels that help shape future research directions _____________________________________________________________________ SOCNET is a service of INSNA, the professional association for social network researchers (http://www.insna.org).
