Of paramount importance to all of us is the accuracy of the University of Florida’s student records. With the implementation of a new student information system, the conversion of records data from the former mainframe-based system to this new system required the monumental effort of translating millions of files, including student records used to populate transcripts. While the vast majority of this data was converted seamlessly, the process also created an expected and inevitable amount of translation discrepancies. Thus, the University of Florida Office of the University Registrar (OUR) has created a service indicator (hold) labeled “RC3” for students who may need to have data on their transcript updated within the new student information system. The RC3 service indicator allows the OUR to not only identify those records that need attention, but also to prioritize those cases that are most timely or sensitive, for example, students requiring degree certification for graduation in the current term. The OUR has been and continues to hand-validate its list of RC3 discrepancies, and students encountering this service indicator are encouraged to contact the office to initiate a review of the record in question. If a student does have an RC3 service indicator on their record, they will see the following message:
After our recent new student record system implementation, your record is being reviewed for completeness. The unofficial transcript, official transcript, and degree audit are currently not available. For access to this record, please contact the Office of the University Registrar.
