Our Peer Academic Coaches only work through the last week of classes so that they can focus on their own finals. Any clients who come in during finals week meet with me or one of the two Graduate Assistants and we focus
on helping students prioritize what is most realistic to complete. We discuss academic policies such as the course repeat policy, incompletes, and non-academic withdrawals, if appropriate. Often we are just working with students on reducing their performance
anxiety and maintaining good self-care.
Since we are part of Counseling and Psychological Services, we can refer students in extreme distress to the on-call counselor. We also have a MindSpa with a massage chair and biofeedback software and an online self-help
resource known as Therapist Assisted Online (TAO) to which we can refer students.
Dear Learning Assistance Community,
How do your programs offer student support during finals in a way that does not compromise learning assistance pedagogy’s focus on process and time management?
