INSNA Sunbelt 2019 Call for Papers
June 18-23, 2019 (Montreal)
Zachary Neal (Michigan State University)
Samin Aref (Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research)
Topics involving signed networks have gained more attention in the past couple of years as reflected in the past Sunbelt conferences. We invite scholars working on all aspects of
signed networks, including both their measurement and modeling, as well as theories associated with signed networks (e.g. balance). We particularly welcome submissions for which the presenters have (or will) shared their data, to encourage further research
on these unique types of networks.
Possible topics include (but are not limited to): negative ties in small groups, balance theory in educational setting, negative ties in organizational context, signed networks in
political science and international relations, bullying and victimization, partitioning signed networks, signed graphs, social processes in signed networks, simulation models and dynamics of signed networks, intra- and inter-group conflicts in networks, structural
analysis of signed networks, importance and role of negative ties in networks, nodal importance in signed networks, sentiment networks, opinion dynamics in signed networks, signed network clustering, big data and large-scale signed networks, negative ties
in social media and online communities, advances in analysis of signed networks, methods and measures pertaining to signed networks, alliance formation in signed networks, and neutral and ambivalent ties.
