We use the ALEKS Math Placement, Prep, & Learning program as a measure in addition to SAT/ACT score. We’ve only used ALEKS with two cohorts so far, but initial outcomes indicate that it’s placing students at least as accurately as ACT. Students take an initial online assessment, and then have access to prep and learning modules to address any gaps in their skills. After a certain amount of time spent practicing in the learning modules, they are allowed to re-take the placement assessment. Assessment can be done in a proctored or online format.

Subject: question on testing and placement - community colleges
I've been asked to see if I can gather some information about placement testing.
Are there any community colleges who use multiple measures to place students in Math and English, that do not include placement testing such as essays or Accuplacer?
What are those measures?
