International Workshop on Networks and Urban Systems

9-11th July 2019, University of Greenwich, London

This workshop aims to bring together multi-disciplinary expertise to explore the expanding frontiers of urban challenges and opportunities to improve quality of life, competitiveness and sustainability.

It aims to:

-          contribute to theoretical development on networks in urban systems;

-          develop a research and impact agenda for the future, particularly in developing effective and sustainable:

o   Urban infrastructure systems and networks: Transport, energy, waste, communications;

o   Distributed and overlapping production systems (e.g. IT clusters, health, etc.);

o   High quality urban business ecosystems and global value chains;

o   Business models for technologically transformed social systems;

o   Urban entrepreneurship in Town centres (regeneration, attractiveness and tourism);

o   Liveable cities: Health, wellbeing and the movement of people and goods in cities

We invite presentations of original research broadly within these themes, including empirical, methodological contributions and particularly those intersecting network and systems theories.

We envisage parallel sessions on each of the themes, with 20 minutes for oral presentation and 10 minutes for discussion of each paper. There will also be a PhD symposium for graduate students.

There is no registration fee for the workshop; lunch and refreshments will be provided. Participants will need to make their own arrangements for travel and accommodation but some travel subsidies will be available for graduate students.

Proposals for presentations, in the form of a 500 (max) word abstract should be submitted by 1st May 2019 to: https://easychair.org/cfp/NUSW2019
