Dear Water Institute Faculty, Students and friends:

Please join us for the next UF Water Institute Distinguished Scholar Seminar, Tomorrow, April 4, 2019, 3:30 – 4:30 PM, Bless Auditorium, Williamson Hall Room 100.

William (Bill) J. Cooper, Ph.D.

Professor Emeritus, Department of Civil and

Environmental Engineering University of California, Irvine

Seminar Title:

Current Understanding of Natural Organic Matter Photochemistry and Implications in Constructed Wetlands, Environmental Fate and Coastal Studies

Dr. Cooper’s research focuses on better understanding the sunlight-mediated photochemistry of pharmaceuticals and other compounds of emerging concern in surface waters. The ultimate goal of this research is to provide the scientific basis for designing and optimizing constructed wetlands. The kinetic data that result from such studies can also be used to evaluate the environmental fate of organic compounds, and to better understand processes in coastal streams and wetlands.

Co-sponsored by the Department of Geological Sciences, CLAS and The Environmental Engineering Sciences Department, ESSIE, and hosted by Water Institute Affiliate faculty members Drs. Mark Brenner ([log in to unmask]) and David Kaplan ([log in to unmask]).
