When to Advocate Emphatically
Mike McKee, Vice President and CFO
Are you the only thing standing between your supervisor and a potentially not-so-good front-page news? The more you understand the "why" for spending guidelines and restrictions, the better able you will be to determine the important moments to be an influencer.

Influencing for the Gator Good
Dr. Alex Sevilla, Associate Dean & Director, Heavener School of Business
Effective leaders know it's not how much you know, what you say, or even how often you say it, but whether you can inspire key stakeholders to take action. This interactive session will provide BAs with practical tips and strategies to strengthen their influence acumen. By activating your influencing capabilities, participants will be better equipped to partner with stakeholders to transform ideas to action in order to advance our shared 'Gator Good' mission.

Navigating Travel at UF
Randy Staples, Brett Wallen, and Carlos Cordero
Business travel at the University of Florida can be very complex due to the overwhelming amount of rules and guidelines that must be followed. And some of these rules have changed recently.
This session is designed for managers who support the people doing the actual travel-related duties. This is not a "how to" workshop, rather an in-depth review of travel-related issues. "What is allowed to be claimed in accordance with the UF Travel Directives?" Time will available for participants to share best practices.

Where in the world is Dr. Carmen SanDiego?
Terra Dubois, Gary Wimsett, and Chris Hass
Part of the GBAS mission is to keep business and research administrators "in the know" by highlighting timely and relevant topics. This interactive session will explore the US intelligence agencies' interest in university research activities. We will discuss why reporting outside activities and financial interests is paramount in managing risk for both faculty and staff, and how the accurate completion of grant application forms supports and protect the university's research activities.

Using Emotional Intelligence for Crucial Conversations
Gwynn Cadwallader and Barb Mitola
What are your go to emotions and how do you react, at work, when emotions are running high? Learn strategies and practice techniques for identifying your emotions, managing them and then communicating in ways that will get you what you really want.
