We have had coffee for a long time in our Learning Center.  We ask students to donate 25 cents per cup and that covers the cost of the coffee, creamer and sugar.  I’m able to buy Styrofoam cups from our supplies budget. Some students come to campus with their own mug which helps with that cost. Faculty often come in for the coffee and will donate toward the cost.  If I could design my own space, we would have a full service coffee shop with a barista. J

Not long ago, we purchased charging stations.  These have multiple outlets as well as USB chargers.  They are very popular with the students.

Subject: Coffee in your tutoring centers?

Good morning everyone,

We took a poll asking what students want in our center. They suggested more whiteboards, a seating area, and better lighting. There were two items that made the majority of the responses:

I think we can handle the other items, but I am not sure about how to make coffee happen with a limited budget. Does your facility have a coffee station and if so, how do you operate it? Is it brewed coffee or k-cup style? Do you charge for it or use the honor system?

Thanks for any help you can provide.
