Good morning.



Several years ago, Texas State University's SI program worked with our Technology Resources department to develop a .net application (all web-based) to collect attendance and run weekly and end of semester reports. The system interfaces or "talks" to Banner system. While a lengthy project from the administrative level, it's been a game changer and did not/does not incur cost! Virtually every campus has a department that develops its applications, but it often takes time to get on their to-do list.

Our tutoring program also transitioned from paper/pen about two years ago.



In the past , we used Google Forms to create a kiosk that would allow students to check in and out of their tutoring appointments through an iPad. This form was connected to and communicated with a separate Google Sheets form. Google sheets would keep track of the timestamp at check in and out ( done automatically). We would then tally the total hours and track how many students attended.



Now we use EAB Navigate at our institution, it allows us to create a tutoring kiosk for student to check in and out of tutoring appointments on an iPad. It also allows you to assign/schedule appointments with particular tutors. Front desk staff can also mass check in/out students, which is beneficial if a student forgets to check in or out.



The reporting feature has been a great tool to use, you can track attendance and duration of appointments. However, there is still an issue of accuracy. We have run into problems with our reports when students forget to log in, technical issues with the software ... etc. EAB Navigate does not allow you to make edits or correct any issues, as far as I am aware. So, we have found that we need to download the reports into excel and manually make corrections from there.

Hi everyone!



        I am wondering how those who oversee/run Supplemental Instruction on their campus keep track of attendance? Currently, at NYIT, we have paper sign in sheets that are printed each session, then our SI Leader marks off students who attended in a "Master Attendance Sheet" which is a Google Sheet with the class roster and session dates...



        We are hoping to come up with a more efficient way to take attendance and keep track of it for end of the year reporting and data collection. What are some ways other schools do this?



        We are exploring using the EAB - Navigate system in conjunction with our SI....are there any schools out there who use EAB - Navigate for their SI program? Any information you could provide would be tremendous!!
