Call for Abstracts Now Open!


We invite you to participate in the 7th biennial UF Water Institute Symposium. The 2020 Symposium will bring together individuals from a broad range of disciplines and organizations to explore complex water challenges from multiple perspectives with focus on innovative science, technology, cultural, policy, and management solutions to the following pressing issues:

  • Harmful Algae Blooms (HABs) in springs, lakes and coastal waters 
  • Sources, impacts and management of contaminants
  • Water scarcity, allocation and use 
  • Impacts of and resilience to climate change, extreme events and sea level rise

Symposia presentations, posters and panels will address biological, physical, social, economic, engineering, management, policy and regulatory aspects within and across these water issues. The Planning Committee encourages presentations that:

  • Focus on public perceptions, science communication, education, and stakeholder engagement
  • Consider influences across a full range of spatial and temporal scales
  • Present innovative analytical methods, technologies, monitoring and modeling approaches

Student poster authors are eligible to compete for "Best Poster" awards based on the quality of the abstract, poster and discussion. Four poster winners will receive prizes of $1000 each to be used as funding to support future participation at a national conference.
