Memorandum
DEGREE CERTIFICATION 1. FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE TERM. Degree certification continues to be our top priority for the remainder of this term. Please verify that your graduating students do not have any outstanding issues by going to
GIMS and checking your student discrepancies report. The discrepancies report can be found by going to the Department Data menu on the left of GIMS and selecting “Reports”. From here you can select “discrepancies”, which then gives you the option for running
reports for various issues. Please note that this site includes all your graduate students with issues, not just degree candidates. Please also review your students’ full records in SIS (Student Information System). 2. UNRESOLVED FINAL TERM GRADE ISSUES. The Graduate School certifies degrees based on final term grades submitted by Monday, December 16 , 2019, 12:00 PM. Please remind your faculty of the negative impact on degree
candidates if grades are not submitted by the deadline. Should you have students with unresolved final term grades, please remind them to reapply for graduation for the Spring 2020 term on or before the published deadline, January 20,
2020. 3. DEGREE CERTIFICATION. Academic units are responsible for evaluating degree candidates based on final term grades and notifying their college of candidates that should be removed. Remember – departmental
requirements may be more specific than what the College and/or Graduate School evaluates. Academic units should find out from their college degree certification coordinators when their material is due to the college deans. Final college degree certification
occurs online and must be completed by
10:00 AM on TUESDAY, December 17, 2019. If you are a college coordinator and are unavailable to complete the online degree certification transaction by the 10:00 AM deadline on December 17, 2019, please contact Patty
Van Wert and advise the name of your replacement. Reply to
[log in to unmask] with the contact information. 5. ASSISTANCE FOR STUDENTS NOT GRADUATING. The Graduate Student Records Office will resume assistance with non-degree certification issues on January 6, 2020.
PLANNING FOR SPRING 2020 1. GRADUATION CHECKS. It is critical that the departments also conduct graduation checks for students intending to graduate in Spring 2020, since the departments and the Graduate School monitor for different
requirements. 2. ADMISSION TO CANDIDACY. SIS remains available for Admission to Candidacy data submission.
Just a reminder--it is not required for you to submit a registration adjustment for students enrolled in 7979 during the term in which they are reclassified to a 9. Students in
a doctoral program classified as 7, 8, or 9 may continue to register for 7979, but only students with a 9 classification can be enrolled in 7980 and have the course funded by the State for the University. Thank you for your cooperation. *************** UF Graduate Records Graduate School PO Box 115500 Gainesville, FL 32611 Telephone: (352) 392-4643 Fax: (352) 846-2756 Website:
